Q. What is #ILGive?

#ILGive (pronounced “I’ll Give”) is an initiative of Forefront, Illinois’ statewide membership association for nonprofits, grantmakers, public agencies, advisors, and sector allies. Forefront works to build a vibrant social impact sector for all Illinois. Through #ILGive Giving Day events, Forefront mobilizes Illinois nonprofits and foundations to increase individual giving across the state.

#ILGiveCommunity is a 24-hour online fundraising event to empower individuals to donate to causes that matter to them through local nonprofits who are tackling our communities’ most critical issues.

#ILGiveCommunity will raise money for our communities, bring new donors and increase awareness to local nonprofits, and help make Illinois a more vital, vibrant place to live.


Q. When is #ILGiveCommunity Day?

#ILGiveCommunity Day starts on May 30th at 6PM and ends May 31st at 6PM.


Q. When can I begin accepting donations?

The Donate button on your profile page will be active beginning on Tuesday, May 30 at 6PM.


Q. Is my organization eligible to participate?

Organizations that are verified 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits that are headquartered or provide services in Illinois. Additionally, your organization is required to be registered with the Illinois Attorney General. If you have not done so yet, please the Illinois Attorney General’s website to get registered.


Q. Why should my organization participate?

#ILGiveCommunity is a great way to boost your organization’s fundraising efforts. The campaign provides eligible nonprofits the opportunity to reach potential new donors and provides the type of visibility that only a state-wide effort of this type can generate - especially during a slow period on the fundraising calendar. To make the most of these efforts your organization should ensure that your profile is on the site well ahead of #ILGive Day and is custom-branded to tell your story.


Q. How can my nonprofit participate?

Search for your organization by name or EIN here. If you do not see your organization listed, you will have the opportunity to create your organization’s profile. You can check out the support articles to walk you through the process, or you can email info@ilgive.com for more information.


Q. How much does it cost?

To participate in #ILGiveCommunity, there will be a 5% platform fee for all online donations.

To maintain a profile on the GiveGab platform year round, GiveGab retains a 5% campaign management fee from all donations, capped at $20 per donation. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + 30¢ for all major credit cards (3.5% + 30¢ for American Express) on a per transaction basis. Donors are given the option to cover the fees and over 70% of them do. If they cover the processing fees, 100% of their online charitable gift will go to your organization.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is an online giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy-to-use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. What is the deadline to ensure my participation in #ILGiveCommunity?

The deadline to register for #ILGiveCommunity is May 10, 2017. Register now. To gain the benefit from the tools available, make sure your volunteers are engaged in #ILGiveCommunity, and to reach new donors, register today and start promoting #ILGiveCommunity as soon as possible. Your profile on GiveGab is available 365 days a year for fundraising and volunteer management.


Q. Can more than one person claim admin access on our organization’s page?

Yes, pending approval from existing administrators. All administrators will need to create profiles on GiveGab. Every person who has administrative access will receive emails about updates to their page.


Q. How much of the donation will go to our organization?

GiveGab retains a 5% campaign management fee from all donations, capped at $20 per donation. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + 30¢ for all major credit cards (3.5% + 30¢ for American Express) on a per transaction basis. 100% of all donations are tax-deductible for the donor. All donations will be officially receipted for tax purposes by GiveGab.


Q. When will we receive the donated funds?

Organizations will receive all donations, less any uncovered processing fees, within 36-48 hours via direct deposit as long as bank routing and account information has been verified. GiveGab uses a PCI Level I compliant payment service, Stripe, to ensure that all financial data is secure.


Q. Will our nonprofit receive donor contact information? How?

All organizations that participate in #ILGiveCommunity will be able to access and download a .CSV of their donations via their administrative dashboard on GiveGab. The report is updated in real-time and will include the donation payout date for bank account reconciliation, donation information (including a breakdown of the fees), and the donors’ names and contact information. Q. Who can donate?

Anyone may donate. Donations through the #ILGiveCommunity online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is an online giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy-to-use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. How will donations be distributed?

Each donation made to a participating nonprofit will be disbursed directly from GiveGab via direct deposit within 36-48 hours.


Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + 30¢ for all major credit cards (3.5% + 30¢ for American Express) on a per transaction basis. You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization. All donations are final and cannot be refunded.


Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.

You have the option to make your donation anonymous. Anonymous donations will be displayed as "Anonymous." on the organization's page. Organizations will still have access to your name and email address.


Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.


Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit https://www.ilgive.com on your mobile device.


Q. Can I pre-schedule a donation for #ILGiveCommunity?

You can give to a nonprofit through the #ILGiveCommunity portal before or after #ILGiveCommunity Day. Although some organizations are receiving matching gifts and therefore might require that your donation be made within a specific time period. Check with your favorite Nonprofit for more information.


Q. What if my preferred organization is not listed?
