Q. What is #ILGive?
#ILGive (pronounced 'I’ll Give') is Illinois' official Giving Tuesday campaign. We're connecting Illinois residents with causes they care about.
#ILGive is a 24-hour digital fundraising event that connects individuals with the causes that matter to them, and empowers donors to give to the local nonprofits that tackle our communities' most critical issues. #ILGive raises money for our communities, brings new donors, and increases awareness about local nonprofits while leveraging the national marketing of #GivingTuesday.
#ILGive is an initiative of Forefront, Illinois’ statewide membership association for nonprofits, grantmakers, public agencies, advisors, and sector allies. Forefront works to build a vibrant social impact sector for all Illinois. Through #ILGive, Forefront mobilizes Illinois nonprofits and foundations to increase individual giving across the state. Last year, donors gave $13.4 million to Illinois social good organizations on #ILGive for #GivingTuesday!
Q. When is #ILGive?
#ILGive will begin at midnight on November 27th, 2018, and ends 24 hours later at 11:59pm. Donations will be opening on November 14 for those who are not able to donate on November 27th, 2018, but we strongly recommend that you encourage your supporters to donate on November 27th to not only create a sense of urgency for donors but to also be a part of the global #GivingTuesday movement.
Q. Is my organization eligible to participate?
Organizations that are verified 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits that are headquartered or provide services in Illinois are eligible to participate in #ILGive. Additionally, organizations must be registered as charitable organizations with the Illinois Attorney General's office. All participating nonprofits will be required to attest that they are in compliance to state mandated fundraising laws prior to being able to collect donations. Q. Why should my organization participate?
#ILGive is a great way to tell your organization's story to a new, broader audience and boost your fundraising efforts! #ILGive helps nonprofits reach new donors and provides the type of brand visibility that only a state-wide effort can generate. To help organizations make the most of their efforts, the #ILGive platform allows organization's to custom-brand their profiles with pictures, video, and specialized donation fields. Q. How can my nonprofit participate?
Search for your organization by name or EIN here. If you do not see your organization listed, you can register and create your organization’s profile. You can check out the support articles to walk you through the process, or you can email email@example.com for more information.
Q. How much does it cost?
In 2018, the per-donation fees include a 2% platform management fee to GiveGab (capped at $20 per transaction), and 2.2% plus $.30 per credit card transaction (including American Express transactions).

Q. What is GiveGab?
GiveGab is the platform that hosts #ILGive. GiveGab is an online giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy-to-use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.
Q. What is the deadline to register for #ILGive?
The deadline to register and have guaranteed inclusion in #ILGive is Tuesday, October 24th, 2018. But why wait when you can register today? It's never too early to start thinking about your year-end fundraising and the tools provided on the platform, from volunteer engagement to profile customization, are available now. Once you're registered, your #ILGive profile will continue to be available 365 days a year.
Q. Why do you require date of birth and the last four digits of the nonprofit administrator's Social Security number for a nonprofit's donation payouts?
As an online platform that collects, processes, and distributes money in the form of donations from supporters to organizations, GiveGab must abide by the rules, regulations, and compliance laws of the United States. In particular, they are required to verify that the individual registering an organization to collect donations is authorized to do so and is who they say they are. Additionally, GiveGab needs to verify that the organization is a legitimately registered corporation.
Q. Can more than one person claim admin access on our organization’s page?
Yes, pending approval from existing administrators. All administrators will need to create profiles on GiveGab. Every person who has administrative access will receive emails about updates to their page.
Q. How much of the donation will go to our organization?
GiveGab retains a 2% campaign management fee from all donations (on November 27th this fee is capped at $20). Credit card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + 30¢ for all major credit cards (including American Express) on a per transaction basis. Donors are given the option to cover the fees and if they do,100% of their charitable gift will go to your organization. We're happy to report that donors choose to cover these fees on average 70% of the time!
100% of all donations are tax- deductible for the donor. All donations will be officially receipted for tax purposes by GiveGab.
Q. When will we receive the donated funds?
Organizations will receive all donations (less any uncovered processing fees), within 3 business days via direct deposit as long as bank routing and account information has been verified. GiveGab uses a PCI Level I compliant payment service, Stripe, to ensure that all financial data is secure.
Q. Will our nonprofit receive donor contact information? How?
All organizations that participate in #ILGive will be able to access and download a .CSV of their donations via their administrative dashboard on GiveGab. The report is updated in real-time and will include the donation payout date for bank account reconciliation, donation information (including a breakdown of the fees), and the donor's name and contact information.
